Day one afternoon: enjoy the Royal Mile
Walk towards the lower Royal Mile with stops that interest you. Choose Holyroodhouse if the palace is a priority and its opening calendar fits, or keep the walk flexible. A whisky experience, illusion attraction or underground visit can replace the palace rather than becoming an additional compulsory booking.
Day two: change neighbourhood in Leith
Visit Britannia and leave time for the waterfront. A Leith food tour can be a separate main activity if its date and menu suit you, but check the schedule before combining it with a timed yacht visit. Account for transport from your hotel and back.
Adapt the plan to your group
Families may prefer a zoo day instead of Leith. In poor weather, choose an indoor anchor and shorter outdoor links. A Highland excursion needs a full additional day or replaces the second city day entirely. Use the official opening calendars before fixing the final order.
